Our tickets are booked!

We booked our tickets to the Madonna concert in L.A. a few days ago. The concert is on November 6th at Dodgers Stadium. There are six of us going and it should be a great time. We probably won't be close enough to see her but I'm sure there will be big screens all around.

This is yet another lousy weekend, weather wise. Since yesterday we have had rain, fog, cold temperatures and some wind. It is supposed to stay like this for the next 4 -5 days so I'll be waiting another while to paint the patio. I bought a new wicker patio set today with a loveseat, two chairs, two ottomans, and a coffee table. I just love it and the best part is that it was on sale! When the clerk checked us out, it ended up being even cheaper than I had originally thought. I love nothing more than a good deal. Of course we won't be using the set anytime soon because of the weather so for now it is in our basement.

We leave on Tuesday to go visit my cousin for a few days. Then we go to the cabin with mom and Dad until next Sunday. We'll go fishing, for walks, on ATV's and play some cards. It should be a nice relaxing vacation. This is our only time off over the summer until we go to L.A. in November. The only day I work next week is Monday and that's the day that the Stanley Cup visits the Janeway Hospital (where I work). One of the players on the Detroit Redwings, Danny Cleary, is from Newfoundland so he is bringing the cup into the hospital on Monday afternoon for all the kids to see. That should be fun. All of my patients have already asked to come in on Monday afternoon so they can be there the same time as the Cup. I think that it is going to be one crazy afternoon but the kids will just love it.

I also included a picture of Sid taken last Sunday while we were out in the garden. Doesn't he look adorable!

New garden pictures

We finally got some good weather this past Sunday so I spent the full day gardening. Here are some of the pictures I took. We also had our first fire of the year on Sunday. It was a beautiful evening. The last few days have been really warm so I hope that this weather continues.

Madonna in L.A.!

I just found out that Madonna is doing a concert in Los Angeles while we are there is November. There are 3 people who I would love to see in concert and she is one of them! The other two are Elton John and U2. I've checked Ticketmaster and there are still seats available. The concert is at Dodgers Stadium. We are just trying to decide which tickets we should book, the cheap ones where we will hardly be able to see her or the more expensive ones. Hopefully we will have something booked by the end of the day. I'm so excited!! Now if only there is a good hockey game on while we are down there. What are the chances? The NHL schedule for 2008-2009 is not out for another few weeks so it's wait and see!

1 month Anniversary!!

Well we now have one month down since we were approved by ICAB. How exciting!! We plan to go out for chinese food to celebrate. The wait so far has gone amazingly quick. I hope the rest of the wait goes by as quickly, but I hate to be wishing my time away.

The weather here is awful yet again. This entire weekend has been cold, wet and foggy. I didn't get any gardening done and I'm still waiting for a good day so that I can paint our 2 decks. We are supposed to have this same weather for most of next week so I think that I'm going to have to break down and put my clothes in the dryer instead of hanging them on the line. I just love my bedsheets and towels dried outside.

I also plan to start a training program for the half marathon here this Fall. I haven't been doing much speed work or hill training lately as I've had trouble with my heel, but now that I'm on the mend, I plan to start training again. I love having a goal in mind when running. It makes you want to run faster and better. I would love to do another marathon but I will only do a big one like Chicago or New York or something along those lines. I done two small marathons and I also ran Los Angeles. The L.A. marathon was so much fun. There were tons of people cheering you on and over 25,000 people ran the race. The marathon I did here had 50 -60 participants and there were no crowds to cheer you on. In the case of marathons, bigger is definetely better!

Happy Father's Day!

My garden

Our back deck where we have fires in the summer

That's Brians shed where he keeps HIS stuff

On Rachels request, I decided to include some pictures of my garden. Now these were taken last year and we have since added some more beds. I haven't taken any garden pictures so far this year because we still do not have leaves on the trees and the grass is just turning green! We've had a very cold Spring! Once it warms up and things start blooming, I'll add in some new pictures. Rachel, let me know if Dave has any recommendations for the garden. I'd love to have some advice from an expert!

My first baby purchase!!

I spent all of last week in Labrador for work. It was quite a busy week, but I did get a chance to do a little shopping. As soon as I saw these moccasins, I fell in love! They are so soft. All the small children that I saw in Labrador were wearing them and they looked so cute that I had to have a pair for our child. I purchased the red ones because I thought that would be suited for either a boy or a girl. I'm guessing that they would fit a child around the age of two years so hopefully they will be big enough. It was a very exciting moment buying our child it's first present. There will be many more to come I'm sure!
