8 years old!

Today Sid turns 8! It is hard to believe that he is that old because he still acts like a puppy. He is always getting into some kind of trouble. I took him on a hike this morning with his other dog friends. I made blueberry muffins and I bought treats for all of the dogs. It was a beautiful sunny morning but it was very windy and cold. Sid is gone up in the woods with Brian now cutting wood. Sid runs up the path ahead of Brian who is on the ATV. I'm sure by the time he gets back, he will finally be tired!

On Thursday I sent off my immigration papers so that I can sponsor a child into Canada. I didn't even realize that I had to do this until I was reading someone elses post on the Yahoo group. Thank goodness I found out when I did. The adoption coordinator here in NL said that if I had gotten a referral without having this done I couldn't even have accepted the referral! Anyways, the paperwork is now all sent off and hopefully I'll hear something fairly soon. I don't know how long it takes for them to get back to you but I've heard from others that it is not too long when it has to do with adoption.

This past week there were two more referrals received. It is always exciting to hear this especially when it is someone you know (well kinda know). Congratulations again Julie!! We almost have 10 months in and I hope that we are now half way there. Only time will tell. I purchased a few childrens books this past week. One had lots of pictures of dogs and you could touch their fur. It was pretty cute so I had to buy it. That's it for now.

Happy birthday Sid!
Hey, thank goodness you found out about the immigration papers through the Yahoo group! We just sent ours off last week as well. However, the big difference is that we're barely one month into ICAB approval, while you guys are nearly ten months in and possibly getting close to a referral!! How come no one from your agency told you about the immigration paperwork before this?! Our agency sent us the paperwork for Canadian immigration when they finished reviewing our file and sent off our folder to the Philippines. When our resource person called us to tell us that we had ICAB approval, she made sure we had the documents and reminded us to get started on the immigration papers. She explained the procedure to us and told us to contact her if we had any questions. From what I understand, your agency didn't give you the paperwork till you asked for it? No one explained the procedure to you, and you were left to find out about this all on your own over the internet?! I am pretty angry about that for you...it shouldn't work that way. The agency is supposed to be there to help you and guide you along the way throughout the adoption procedure.

Amber,
We don't have an agency. We are going directly through the government here in Newfoundland. So far that hasn't been a problem, but no one told us about the immigration paperwork. If there is anything else I'm missing, please tell me!!

Happy Birthday Sid, our Daisy turned 9 last fall. I know what you mean by still acting like a puppy. Thanks for the congrats. We are still so excited and overwhelmed with things to do. I'm so glad to hear that you got your paperwork figured out. I can't even believe the position it would have put you in when you got your referral.

Happy birthday Sid! the time goes so fast. My little Allie will be 6 years on the 22nd of this month, seems like yesterday she was just a little kitten.

I had no idea about the immigration stuff either. What has to be fill out and sent in? They are so helpful here aren't they. You would think she would of told us this stuff.
Can you email me the info so I can get it done? Thanks.

A doggy b-day party...fun!

Glad to hear that you got all of the paperwork straightened out. It is all so confusing anyways. We have had great help and communication, but it is still just a lot to have to remember to do.
