I finally figured out how to transfer the pictures from Brians camera to here. So here are some of the pictures from our hike on Saturday evening. The weather has really gone downhill since then and tonight it's freezing cold and rainy. What happened to our good weather??
We began the process to adopt a child from the Philippines in January 2007 and received ICAB approval in May 2008. On October 29, 2010 we were matched with our son Rafael and he joined our family on February 20, 2011!! Now we are home and are enjoying the adventures of parenting!!

The end to another great weekend!
This has been a great weekend. The weather was fabulous. It was 23 degrees and I was suntanning in tanktop and shorts! I took Sid on a two hour hike Saturday morning and then we went on a beautiful hike yesterday evening and watched the sunset. I have some beautiful pictures of the hike but I can't figure out how to download them into the blog. The pictures were taken on Brians camera instead of mine and his pictures are stored in a different area than mine. If I ever figure it out, I'll post them. After the busy weekend, Sid is pretty pooped out and is here asleep on the floor.
Today was another nice day but it was windy. When I woke up, I heard a noise in the basement. I kept hearing it so I went down to check it out. The noise seemed to be coming from the woodstove so I went up and got Brian out of bed so that he could check it out. It turned out to be a bird in our stove. Brian had to take it apart so that the bird could get out and he did. I put my patio furniture out today as well so I could enjoy the good weather. I heard tonight we're getting flurries so that will put an end to the good weather.
I attended a session on attachment in adoption on Thursday night. There were only two of us there who were waiting to bring our children home. The rest of the couples already have their children. It was interesting to hear how different families had different approaches to helping their child attach once they returned home. One lady said that she did not let anyone hold her child for three months after returning home. I cannot imagine this. I know that you have to teach them that your are the parents by catering to all their needs yourself but I can't imagine not even letting the grandparents hold them. I guess I'll have to think about that one.

11 months!
Another month has passed since ICAB approval and we've reached the 11 month mark. It is hard to believe that it is almost a year ago since we were approved. Time continues to fly by and work has been really busy. I was really hoping to hear something by the end of the year but it's hard to estimate because the wait times vary so much.
We had a great Easter. Mom and Dad came in for Thursday and Friday but they had to go back home on Friday as Mom had to work on Saturday. Brian and I just hung around the house and I did lots of cleaning. I wasn't in the mood to cook Easter dinner so we had jumbo chocolate milkshakes and onion rings from A&W. Yummy!! Not the typical Easter dinner but we enjoyed it none the less.

More renovations
Well Brian has been busy over the past few months finishing off the rec room and the spare bedroom. I thought that I'd finally post some pictures so you could see what a great job he did. We now spend all of our free time in the rec room because it's always toasty warm with the woodstove going. I just love the colour of the room. It's called salsa dancing.

Girls weekend
I've just returned from another great girls weekend. That is one thing that I will definitely miss when we return home with our child. I love getting together with all the girls I run with. We do it several times over the year and have a great time every time. We are now planning our camping trip for a weekend this summer. I love camping but several in the group said they would prefer to rent a vacation home for the weekend. The weather here is variable so staying in tent can go either way. It could be a lovely evening under the stars or you could be stuck in the pouring rain. I guess we'll have to have a vote to see if it will be a camping trip or not.
Anyways, this weekend was lots of fun. We sat around talking all night on Friday and got up early Saturday morning to go shopping. We got back in the afternoon and watched "I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry". I'm not a big movie person, but I've got to say it was pretty funny. We then had a cheese fondue with bread and a chocolate fondue with fruit. Wow, did I ever eat too much! We then sat around talking some more and watched a little hockey and curling before heading to bed. This morning we took a nice long walk and got stuck in the rain. We ended with a game of scrabble and then headed home. I guess it's now back to the real world!
Mom and I have also rebooked out Hawaii trip. We now leave May 20th and return on the 30th. We are staying in Honolulu. I'm looking forward to some sun! It is a very long flight but it will be well worth it once we're lying in the sand.

What a rush!
I was at work this afternoon when the secretary rushed into the office to say "can you take a call ?" There was this happy, excited look on her face and the first thing I thought was could this be THE CALL? Of course, I never expected to hear anything anytime soon, but you can always be hopeful. I ran to the telephone and ............ it was my dentist's office. I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon! Well it was almost like an April Fools joke. I had to laugh! Like I said, I never expected to hear anything yet so I'm not disappointed but I can only imagine how excited I will be when the real time comes!!
